| DesMoinesBroomball.com |
Well we've had some discussions amongst the board about a new broomball site. This site is primarily used for the Des Moines league, so we figured we might as well call it "Des Moines Broomball" instead of "IA Broomball". On top of that, we also wanted something a little fresher and something that would cater more to new broomball players.
So that said, check out www.desmoinesbroomball.com. It's still in a "beta" phase, so be patient.
Our goal is to completely migrate off of this site, so create yourself an account, post some content, leave feedback, etc.

| Opening Night Recap |
The winter broomball season is off and running in Des Moines. Four teams played last Sunday night, downtown, at Brenton Plaza. The ice was treacherous, the air frigid, and the broomball fantastic. The first game was a forfeit by our newest team, Got No Time For Jibba Jabba. However, that just meant more ice time for everyone else! Players from all teams helped boost their numbers, and a scrimmage took place. I'm not sure who won, but Adam Bolander managed to keep from hitting any broomballs into the river, so I think that could be called a win!
The second game brought on a show down between the Shams and the Slick Shoes. The game was close throughout. Slick Shoes scored early, but the Shams clearly had home team advantage as shouts of "ShamWow" could be heard from the rowdy crowd. Several players ended up on the ice, but the only penalty that could be called was on the powdery white stuff that covered the ice surface. In the end, the shams scored two unanswered points to win the game 2-1.
Next week, four more teams will face off. Ball Hawgs will take on EFCO Super Studs (apparently Cole doesn't suck anymore) and Shams will take on Got No Time For Jibba Jabba. Feel free to come down and watch, as those "ShamWow" fans are something to behold.
